Rachel Grey-Frost, 16 years young, sits in the passenger seat of her mom's minivan, a phone in hand, scrolling through TikTok as kidz bop blasts on the radio.
A genre of music Rachel outgrew years ago.
"You don't have to spend the weekend at your Mother's if you don't want to." A Middle Aged Redhead, pear shaped body wrapped in a floral green sundress, suggests in a rather chipper tone.
Rachel rolls her eyes. Her Moms, Emma Frost and Jean Grey, have been separated for about a year now. After Jean had an affair to get pregnant, without Emma's knowledge, for the third time, she had enough and they were done.
Jean thinks Emma is being ridiculous. She also doesn't like the idea that Emma gets her kids every other weekend and every other month. That lawyer of hers is such a bitch!
"If you want, you can invite your friends over for a slumber party???You can rent any movie you want and I'll order you pizza and I'll get ice cream and--"
"I'm staying at Mama's this weekend." Rachel cuts her mom off. "I miss her."
Jean huffs. Like she doesn't too?! God, she misses cuddling with that sexy blonde! But she's too damned stubborn!
"Fine. Have fun." Jean gets snippy.
"I will." Rachel nods.

"Can you believe your mother bought something so flashy like a condo?! Who does she think she is? Charlie Sheen?!"
Rachel sighs. Jean is doing everything she can to make Rachel pick a side. Her side. Ironically, it's doing the opposite!
"I like it." Rachel points out. "It really fits Mama's personality."
As Rachel gets out of the car, telepathically, she can hear her mother fuming with rage.
"Love you mom." Rachel says before closing the car door. As she walks to the entrance, she frowns, quickly realizing Jean is following in tow. A difficult ordeal considering her wide hips and pregnant belly.
"You don't have to walk me to the door." Rachel comments.
"I want to." Jean insists. "Just because you're spending a weekend with your mother, doesn't mean you aren't following my rules, missy!"
Rachel sighs. Jean clearly just wants to harass Emma.
The bell rung, they wait patiently... at least, Rachel waits patiently!
"What's taking her so long?!" Jean huffs and puffs. "We're in a bad neighborhood!"
"No, we're not." Rachel shakes her head.
"Well, any neighborhood is dangerous when you're 16 or pregnant!"
Once again, Rachel can't help but roll her eyes. The door finally open, the pair see...
-A chunky blonde milf -A slender, mature beauty in a suit -A tatted up punk -A green haired woman in a towel. Who the hell is this?! -Suggestion

The door opened, revealing a beautiful woman with wet green hair and a towel wrapped around her curvy body. She smiled softly and nodded at Rachel.
"You must be Rachel! Emma will be right down, she's just getting dressed. I'm Lorna."
Rachel, completely unfazed, merely smiled and walked past the woman into the spacious, modern kitchen. Emma did very well for herself and it showed. Even though she was paying tons of alimony to Jean every month, she still had enough leftover to get herself a nice bachelorette pad.
Rachel wasn't happy to see her mother with someone else. What kid would be? She wanted her parents together but she also realized that her Mom had pushed her Mama too far. She didn't particularly want her Mama to be with a different woman but she did want her to be happy.
Jean, on the other hand, was boiling. She stared at the younger, thinner woman before her and felt an intense wave of rage come over her. How dare this woman touch her Emmy-Bear?!? Before she could lash out and pull the woman out of the condo by her hair, Emma came down the stairs.
Emma was a slim, professional woman with a punk past. Her hair was still cut short and she still had many of her old piercings and tattoos but she no longer walked around in cargo pants and wife beaters. She much preferred tailored suits that showed off her long, tatted neck. For a woman in her early forties, she was still quite a looker.
"Rachel! It's good to see you, honey." She gave the redhead teen a big hug that Rachel happily returned. She missed seeing her Mama everyday.
Lorna had raced back upstairs, assumedly to put some clothes on. Emma leaned against the doorframe and shot her red-faced ex-wife a look.
"Hi, Jean."
Jean raised an eyebrow. "That's all you have to say?!"
"Yep. You can pick her up on Sunday after 7." The blonde slammed the door shut.

"Have you lost your gosh darn mind???" Jean questions, entering Emma's condo without any verbal permission, refusing to curse, even though, internally, she's cursing up a storm.
"What are you talking about?" Emma glares.
"You knew gosh darn well that Rachel was staying the weekend and you brought home some-some hussy?!"
"She's my girlfriend." Emma points out. "She's a music teacher. And besides opening the door in a towel, she has every right to be here. Unlike you."
Rachel at this point was in the kitchen, getting a soda. She did not want to be around for a fight!
"That is so like you, Emmy." Jean huffs. "I knew It!"
"You knew what?"
"I knew it!"
"What?!"
"You're not responsible enough to watch Rachel on your own! Rachel! Rachel! We're going home!"
"No, you're going home." Emma insists. "This is my weekend with her."
Jean starts to growl.
"Then tell that harlot to leave!"
"She's staying... because she lives here." Emma admits.
"What?!"
"That's right, she lives here!"
"Are you insane?!" Jean gets red in the face. "You-You..."
-"Big Meanie!" Jean childishly cries -"Grandma!" Jean mocks. "She's old enough to be your daughter!" -"Take me the hospital... I think my water broke!" -Something else

Emma and Rachel sat in the waiting room of the hospital, awkwardly exchanging glances as Emma attempts to call Scott from Jean's phone for the tenth time. As always, it immediately went to voice mail.
"Damn it," she muttered angrily. "Why won't he pick up? It's his baby!"
Rachel leaned back, banging her head against the wall. She flinched and grimaced. "Mama, he's pretty much just a sperm donor. You know that, right? I mean, do you think he sends me, Natalie or Madeline cards on our birthdays? I bet he doesn't even know our names!"
"God, you're right." Emma put the phone back into her pocket. "I just want someone else to come and handle this. Your mother is..."
"Difficult? Yeah, I know."
"She's...she's passionate," Emma admitted. "Possessive and pretty controlling too. I'm sorry we couldn't make it work. For you and your sisters."
Rachel's eyes stung at that comment. The stone cold teen wasn't about to cry in front of her cool, punk Mama but thinking about times before the divorce? That always made her stomach ache.
"I'll call her Mom. She can come wait here." Emma started to flip through Jean's contacts.
"We're going to just leave her here? While she gives birth?"
Emma shrugged her tatted shoulders. "Do you want to stay?"

"That doesn't matter. Mom would never let it go if we just leave." Rachel points out with a shaking head.
Emma nods. She can't help but feel bad about that. She had a whole weekend planned out and now they're stuck in the hospital!
"I'm sorry." Emma frowns.
"It's not your fault. Mom's the one who wanted kids."
That stung. Rachel knows Jean got knocked up with all four of her children by Scott. All four times without Emma's permission.
Emma tried keeping that a secret. But with telepathy inherited at a young age, that came out pretty early on!
"Look, I have some advice." Emma speaks firmly. "When you're in a relationship, it's important to talk to your partner about what you want. It's okay that your mom wanted a baby. And if she talked to me, we could've found a way. But she didn't let me be a part of the conversation and she did things without my knowledge or consent." Emma tries to not say, Your MOM FUCKED A DUDE.
"I know. I get why you had enough... but I still miss seeing you."
"I do too, sweetie." Emma starts to sniff. "When your grandma comes, how about we get something to eat?"
"Again, I know my mom. Cafeteria food is fine." Rachel assures.
As Emma scrolls through Jean's phone, "accidentally", she comes across the camera roll filled to the brim with naked pics of Emma spanning throughout the last ten years.
<"Of course."> Emma rolls her eyes.

Charlie Xavier never liked Emma. When Jean brought the tatted, punk rocker home one evening, Charlie almost had a heart attack. Her sweet, little girl was attracted to THAT?! It just didn't make sense to the professor. She was a registered genius, ran a very successful school, and had a family she loved dearly but Jean's love life? That was one thing she couldn't wrap her mind around.
She didn't really like the fact that Jean was gay but she got over that. But Emma? She never got over her. And she was very, very happy when her baby girl got served divorce papers!
"Charlie." Emma gave the elegant blonde a slight nod.
Charlie, who had brought Jean's two other daughters with her, merely scowled. "Emma."
"Grandma!" Rachel excitedly got up and rushed to give her a hug. Charlie's frown quickly became a smile as she gave her granddaughter a hug. Like Jean, little ones came first for Charlie.
"Mom's still in labor," Rachel explained smartly. She sighed and gave her sisters a gentle look. "How much you wanna bet it's another girl?"
"Does seem to be a pattern," Charlie murmured. "Rachel? Could you take your sisters to the vending machines for a snack?" She stuck her manicured hand into her purse and pulled out a fifty dollar bill.
"Uh...sure?" Rachel took the bill, knowing full well they wouldn't be able to get anything from the vending machines without getting some change first. She didn't particularly want to leave her poor mother with her grandmother who was always noticeably cold to the blonde, but she also didn't want to get in the middle of even more family drama. She'd had more than enough for one day!
Emma raised a pierced brow at the Xavier matriarch. "Before you tell me to leave, I was already on my way. I'll pick up Rachel whenever she texts me." She stood and grabbed her jacket.
Charlie just narrowed her eyes and followed a nurse back to Jean's room. Emma twisted the jacket in her hands. For some reason, this all felt so wrong. But she didn't have much of a choice. Stuffing her keys in her pocket, she made her way to the parking garage.
