The heroes had all gathered in Four Freedoms Plaza. That had the best technology to figure out what exactly was going on. Even though nothing seemed to make sense.
Apocalypse had developed some sort of weird mutation bomb that was going to transform the world into his own image. The X-Men and the Fantastic Four had teamed-up to stop him, and even Spider-Man and Magneto had gotten dragged into the mix. They'd managed to defeat him, and tried to deactivate the bomb, but it had gone off. Fortunately the energy had been far, far less than the villain had intended, and had, in fact, only ended-up hitting a few of the heroes. Also fortunately, the tinkering with the bomb had meant that the mutation had also ended-up being much different from what Apocalypse had wanted.
But it was still strange.
Spider-Man, Professor X, Wolverine, Gambit, Magneto, the Thing, and Mr. Fantastic all stood there as they were being scanned, with Dr. McCoy and Susan Richards handling the machinery.
Reed wished he could do it, but, well, he'd been one of the people who had been transformed. He -- or she?
The heroes had been turned into pretty girls. It was so strange.
"Well, what have you found?" Reed asked, embarrassed by how high-pitched his voice now sounded.
"Wellllll, your bodies look totally changed," the Beast. "Like, they look stable. Whatever happened, it looks like you'll be staying that way for now."
"Eeep," Spider-Man squeaked.
* * *
Unbeknownst to the heroes, one more had been mutated.
The former Apocalypse whimpered as she staggered through the street, confused and worried. She didn't feel like a powerful warlord or semi-divine mutant. She felt like a frightened girl. What was going on?
