"Jean, dear, where is Scott?" Charlie asks rather bluntly.
Jean looks like a deer in headlights, Rachel shakes her head, Emma couldn't have been more shocked.
Does Charlie seriously not know Scott and Jean divorced three years ago???
"He's working." Jean lies. Scott now lives in Flagstaff Arizona with his second wife, Betsy Braddock. A woman in her late fifties with the opposite curves of Jean. Top Heavy rather than bottom.
"This is his granddaughter for Pete's sake!" Charlie shakes her head. "Honestly, you'd think your husband would prioritize better!!!"
Rachel honestly doesn't care if Scott was around or not. They never really had a good relationship. Scott was rarely around... also, Rachel was absolutely convinced that the lawn man, a fat old Canadian named Logan, was her biological father.
Ironically, Logan and Rachel have much more of a father/daughter relationship. He's even in the lobby with a present for who is likely his granddaughter!
"Well, let's give Rachel some privacy." Charlie insists. "Let's go to out for breakfast. My treat."
Emma soon learns that Jean's dad...
-Is just as oblivious -Knows damn well his daughter is gay and is fine with it. -Something else

Eric Lehnsher, Jean's adopted father and Charlie's second husband, knew pretty early on that his stepdaughter was gay. Charlie brought David and Jean to the family from her first marriage and Eric brought Wanda and Pietro. They were a blended family and at times it was difficult but they made it work. For the most part.
Eric thought that Jean might be gay when she was head over heels in love with a pop star named Dazzler. Alison Blaire became a fixture in the young Jean's bedroom -- to the point that it became a borderline obsession. Posters, t-shirts, the works. Jean never had the same interest in any boy band though -- or any boys really at all.
Charlie was blind to her daughter's interests but Eric wasn't. And he had no harsh feelings about it. He assumed Jean had divorced Scott and found someone new. He didn't, however, anticipate that "someone new" being two woman in their twenties. Who were pregnant with his step-sons babies.
Charlie, Eric, Jean, and Emma sat down at a nice bistro a block away from the hospital. As they were leaving, Logan was coming in to visit Rachel and Emma saw the old, fat man give her girlfriend a quick pinch on the ass. Jean swatted him away but did smile at him. She made a mental note to ask about this Logan guy later. She didn't like some man's hands on her woman.
"So, you're Rachel's friend from school?" Charlie asked as she sipped at a cappuccino. "That's so nice."
"Yeah," Emma replied with a nod. "Best friends since freshman year." She looked over at Jean who wouldn't meet her eyes. The redhead was nervously eating through an entire plate of pasties -- a sight that would normally make Emma cray horny. But right now, she was pissed that she had been demoted. She balled up her hands under the table.
"I still can't believe Rachel's own father isn't here." Charlie shook her head. "Work can wait. Family is what's important."
"You haven't visited us in four years, Mom," Jean pointed out. "It's clearly not that important."
Charlie raised a perfectly plucked brow. "We've been busy, Jeannie. You know Pietro has his own brand of running shoes now. And Wanda just broke ten million followers on her Mommy blog."
Jean forced a smile. "Yep. Right. The other kids. Forgot about that."
Eric put a hand on his step-daughter's fleshy shoulder and smiled tenderly. "We're sorry we haven't been around more. That's our fault. But...we do have some good news. We're thinking of moving back to New York."
"Really?"
Charlie nodded tersely. "We want to be closer to our first great-granddaughter. And closer to David and you of course."
Emma could feel the stress and anxiety pouring off of Jean. There was no way she could keep up this ridiculous lie for much longer. Already it was clear that Eric didn't believe the lie about Scott!
- Jean just comes clean. She knows she has to be honest - Lorna comes up to the table -- she was running errands and saw Jean - time skip

Her due date closer and closer , Lorna, dressed stylishly in a purple maternity gown, tip toes over with bag full of baby clothes.
"Hey, guys! How's Rachel and the baby?"
Lorna sits down right between Jean and Emma. Immediately, she kisses Jean on the cheek, which Charlie almost dismisses, until, Lorna grabs Jean's hand, drops her had on Jeanne spongey shoulder, and starts to nuzzle rather strangely to Charlie's liking.
It was beyond odd.
"Hope you were okay with just Emmy, Jeannie." Lorna smiles. "Hi, I'm Jean and Emma's girlfriend . Who are you two???"
"I'm Eric and this is Charlie... we're Jean's parents."
"Oh..." Lorna clicks her tongue. Jean's nearly about to have a heart attack from the stress of it all.
Lorna, she can't help but say something even dumber!
"So... you saw your great granddaughter... excited for her to meet her baby aunties???"
"What?!" Charlie blinks erratically. "Jean, you're pregnant?! How?! You're much too old!"
Jean gets red in the face at that comment. She's not even 50!!!
"No, Mrs Grey, I meant me and Emma... Jean didn't tell you we're carrying David's kids???"
"What?!" Eric and Charlie both drop their jaw.
Emma, she was amazed how horrible her girlfriend made this situation in under a minute's time!!!

"JEAN?! WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS WOMAN TALKING ABOUT?!" Charlie fumed. She was screaming so loudly that everyone on the bistro's outdoor balcony were inching back inside. Though most of them were still peaking out the window, watching to see how this insane family feud would go down!
"Charlie, dear, calm down before we get kicked out..." Eric warned calmly. He put a hand on his wife's ample hips and she brushed him away immediately.
"Did you hear what she just said?! David, our David, made these women..." She shut her eyes and groaned. "This is a joke. It has to be. WHERE IS SCOTT?!"
"Arizona," Jean admitted in a very small voice. "With his new wife."
"His new wife?! When did you get divorced?"
Jean kept her eyes trained on the table. Emma could see the beads of sweat soaking through her girlfriend's blouse. The blonde decided to speak for the redhead, since she appeared to be very close to a complete mental breakdown.
"Three years ago," Emma said flatly. "They got divorced and then she began seeing Lorna." The green haired woman waved dumbly. Emma loved Lorna -- she did -- but god was she dumb as a brick sometimes!
"And then I came into the picture too. David was kind enough to...donate. So, now we're both pregnant. I know it's a lot to take in --"
"A lot? Jean getting a divorce after twenty years of being happily married would be a lot. This...is this even legal?! It's disgusting!" Charlie got up and slammed her fist down on the table in front of her daughter. "You are ruining your life, Jean!"
"Charlie," Eric gently pulled his wife back into her seat. "Remember that Jean is a grown woman and can make her own decisions. If she is happy, then we can be happy."
Charlie... - Submits. There isn't much she can do - Keeps arguing -- and calls her son David - Keeps arguing but Emma puts her foot down when Jean starts to cry

"No." Charlie shakes her head. "This-This is ridiculous! Jean, you're not thinking straight. You're-You're clearly having a midlife crisis or something! I can't believe you'd leave your husband of over 20 years and-and be with these-these bimbos!"
As Jean starts to break into tears, Emma puts her down.
"Look, Charlie, your daughter was miserable with Scott. And from what I've heard from Jean and Rachel, the guy was an awful husband. He wouldn't even let Jean have a bank account or a job. You think she wanted to be a stay at home mom?!"
"Well, someone needed to look after Rachel." Charlie justifies.
"He wouldn't let Jean get a job when Rachel was in college!!!" Emma slams her fist. "You're being ridiculous, Jean wasn't treated right, Scott was barely around... you should be happy she's happy!!!"
Charlie...
